Japanese Gomaae – Steamed Broccoli with Sesame Recipe

A light oil free side dish which is a traditional type of “salad” in Japan.

400g broccoli
25g roasted sesame seeds
1 tbsp mirin
1 tbsp soy sauce

Steps

Prepare sesam sauce:
Coarsely grind the sesame seeds in a grinder. Season with mirin and soy sauce. Set aside.

Prepare broccoli:
Wash the broccoli and cut it into bite-sized florets. Place broccoli directly on the glass tray on the wire shelf. Lightly salt.

Steam:
Steam with Combi 1 (Steam + Microwave 440W) (NN-CS89/88) for 3-5 minutes (3 min: firm to the bite, 5 min soft). Remove the broccoli from the oven.

Serve:
Mix them gently with sesam sauce, serve.
